Pedro Rodriguez
President, The Friendship Place
Pedro Rodriguez is a native New Yorker; he is a diehard Yankee fan. He moved to Minneola FL, with his family, in 2004. Pedro has been married, to his High School sweetheart, for 27 years. Together they have 3 adult sons, including a son with developmental disabilities.
In 2005 Pedro started volunteering for the Miracle League of South Lake and that’s where his passion for the special needs community began. For over 17 years Pedro has coached children and adults, with disabilities, in the sport of baseball. He’s even tolerated wearing a red socks uniform for several seasons, and has laughed it off saying, “anything for my players”. Pedro is a professional truck driver of over 29 years. Two years ago, he felt called to change his career path. Pedro began working as a Direct support provider for adults with developmental disabilities.
He enjoys fostering and rehabilitating shelter animals with his wife. Pedro attends church regularly at Family Christian Center. He feels God has led him to help individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Pedro’s goal is to aid the special needs community to attain their highest level of skills, purpose, and independence. He hopes to achieve this through an ongoing commitment to quality services, advocacy, and family partnership, through The Friendship Place at Dreamplex.
